Plagiarism Policy
OSTI (Originality System of Technology Information) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. To ensure the originality of all submissions, the journal has established a strict plagiarism policy in line with international best practices.
Plagiarism Detection
- All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using Turnitin, a leading plagiarism detection tool.
- The similarity index generated by Turnitin serves as a benchmark for assessing the originality of the content.
Acceptable Similarity Index
- Manuscripts with a similarity index of 30% or less are considered acceptable for further evaluation, provided that any overlapping text is properly cited and referenced.
- Manuscripts exceeding a similarity index of 30% will be automatically rejected without proceeding to the peer review stage.
Scope of Plagiarism Policy
The following actions are considered plagiarism and are strictly prohibited:
- Verbatim Copying: Copying text, data, or ideas from other sources without proper attribution.
- Self-Plagiarism: Reusing one’s own previously published content without appropriate acknowledgment or justification.
- Improper Paraphrasing: Rewriting content from other sources without adding significant originality or without citing the original source.
- Uncredited Use of Third-Party Content: Incorporating figures, tables, or other content from external sources without proper permissions or citations.
Consequences of Policy Violation
- Manuscripts found to have a similarity index exceeding 30% will be rejected immediately.
- Authors of rejected manuscripts will be notified and provided with the Turnitin similarity report for their reference.
- Authors are encouraged to revise and resubmit their work only if the issues can be addressed satisfactorily.
Recommendations for Authors
To comply with OSTI’s plagiarism policy, authors are advised to:
- Ensure proper citation and referencing for all sources used in their manuscript.
- Use plagiarism detection tools before submission to identify and resolve any unintentional overlaps.
- Provide proper acknowledgment for reused content, including figures, tables, and data.
